What's it
Allstar Link is a powerful radio-over-IP network designed to connect amateur radio nodes globally. It uses the Asterisk open-source PBX platform to provide high-quality digital voice communication across various internet paths and radio frequency devices.
2
Operating
The system creates a network of hotspots or repeaters linked via the internet. Users talk on their local radio, the signal is converted into data packets, transmitted through the Allstar network, and then broadcasted back to RF on other connected nodes.
3
Advantages
Choosing Allstar through the Gateway provides superior audio fidelity, extreme flexibility in node management, and access to a vibrant community. It bridges communication gaps by allowing small setups to reach a massive world-class infrastructure easily.
4
Freestar?
Freestar is the specific distribution of software optimized for our users. The Gateway acts as the bridge that manages your connection, ensuring your local Freestar node communicates flawlessly with the wider Allstar network and other digital protocols.
5
Fix Issues
If you experience audio lag or dropouts, verify your internet stability and check your port forwarding settings. Most issues are resolved by ensuring your node is properly registered and your firewall allows traffic on the specific UDP port used by Allstar.
